Merci Elena!

Good to see the stats also - interesting comments there too. I don't think we'll get to tag our traffic onto the UK election campaign. Although...

Hey, if the Large Hadron Collider couldn't do, I'm reasonably sure I won't either. ;)

btw. you should fix the caption on the photo. The lovely lady on the left is Karen (not Erin) McGrane.

That scheme sounds like it might make the universe implode. I'm in!

PS. Thanks for summing up all my issues with trying to benchmark. Is there any point?!

Count me in for the Great Quest for Content Strategy Case Studies. I've been asked this question a few times in the past 12 months, and haven't managed to come up with a good answer.

With the dizzying array of variables sloshing around something as complex as a publishing effort, I think we'll be frustrated for a good long while.

How often will the content strategy be the only variable that's changed? You'd have to control for design, promotion, market conditions, competitor moves, and a whole host of other things.

I suppose we'll be left with year-over-year comparisons and correlation, rather than causation, as a basis for content strategy case studies.

I am, however, working on a scheme (with a quantum physicist I know) to access parallel universes where given choices turned out differently; as soon as I have a working alpha, I'll let the entire CS community into the alpha. ;)

Hi Richard and thanks for your comment.

It being an arts organisation might be a complicating/interesting factor since the aim is not just to increase incoming consultancy work, funding, etc but to widen the reach of the festival to those who don't normally 'do art'.

Currently looking for someone to mentor me through benchmarking this.

I guess ROI and measurement metrics aren't just about the bottom line anymore. That's only a part of the way you can measure online success.

What is brilliant is that they want the process of creating their content/site to be organic, transparent and to include users as much as possible in the process of that.

Excellent stuff Fiona. We're all looking for case studies which can point to significant ROI due, in part, to the implementation or reworking of a web content strategy.

I think it's important to take the time at key project intervals to measure the impact that our changes will have/are having on the audience as well as the organisation itself.

So whether we're measuring and testing the usefulness, accuracy, and influence of the content with live participants or interviewing those who are involved in content planning, creation, and governance this will help provide not just the numbers but real human insights too.

Some of us want to see raw data before we make a decision, others just want to hear a good story!

It's the Space Babe herself! If only I'd had improv skills back then I could have avoided acting like a lump of wet cardboard as Girl 2.

As for the Pleasure Valley Tiara Girls, I blame Organ Alcove.

Those were the days.

I think I need to get back behind the skirts...
